Services

Currently, FlyInjection Laboratories offers Fly Injection (Fly Gene Transformation) services based on transposon (e.g., P-element) mediated process with a screen marker in adult flies (e.g., white gene). You send us purified DNA constructs, we do the injections and screening for the transgenic lines. We use w118 flies as the host line, and prefer to use white gene marker (red eye) for screening. If you prefer some other host lines or screen markers, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss it with you.
We charge $2600 for the first transgenic line from each construct you send us. If you need more than one line, we charge $200 for each additional independent line. The price breakdown is as follows:
1. independent line: $2600
2. independent lines: $2800
3. independent lines: $3000
For P-element construct which size is equal or less than 10,000 base pairs, we will not charge you until we get non-sterile transformants .

For P-element construct which size is larger than 10,000 base pairs, we will charge an initial $1000 before we start doing the injection. We won't charge the remaining cost until we get non-sterile transformants.
We usually obtain transformants in one to three months from the time we do injections. Once we have the transformants, we will cross them into w118 flies and test for non-sterility. If the transformed line is non-sterile, we will send them back to you. We will keep a duplicate line for another 30 days. During the 30 day period, if any damage occurs to the transformed line, you can always ask us to send you the dupicate line, free of charge.

At FlyInjection Laboratories, we guarantee you the quality of our service with our full refund policy: Within 30 days after we send you the transformants, if you find they don't match the DNA constructs you send us, we will give you a full refund. Also during this period, if you find your additional lines are not independent, we will refund you $300 for each line that is not independent.

All customer materials, samples and transformants are completely confidential and only kept in our possession for 30 days after successful transformation. They will then be distroyed and disposed.

* FlyInjection Laboratories reserves the right to refuse orders with certain abnormal DNA sequences in the injection construct. Such abnormal DNA sequences include, but is not limited to, long inverted repeat sequences, long GC rich clusters, etc. If your DNA happens to have such kind of sequences, Please call our customer service first before you send us your orders.
